He's right, it should work.
Just hold the metal somewhere before the feet touch the ground and keep holding it till you're out.

I do my best to try and reach over the door and rest the outside of the window on my hand, as my driver door almost swings about 50 degrees more open than a normal door,
but i always fall for the trap of panicing about the door falling off, so i grab the metallic bit of the door. :( :roll: :P :D

You could do what drivers in Sydney do. They've been doing this for years, particularly the 4WD owners (Very urban savvy people you see).

Open the door onto the car next to you, the corner of the door colliding with the next car will short the charge down to earth.
Be sure to slam open the door to ensure a good contact with the metal on the car next to you otherwise the paint will act as an insulator. Shopping trolleys can also be used.
