Might sound stupid but I think you can put the fan on the wrong way round it should be sucking air out of the engine bay. ie opporsite to most cars.

Umm....new water pump.......before you did up the bolts did you check that the impeller actually turned freely?? (Probably does seeing as the car will drive ok up to about 80 kph)

Several months back when I rebuilt an 1100 I put in a high volume water pump and it turned, but then when the bolts were done up it was jammed hard against the number one pot. Had to attack it with a file to get it to work properly.

Just my 2 cents worth
