PD was a bastard pump.. :x

Actually, I DO like the Facet pumps- they keep working. I shut them up by mounting them on a Mini centre exhaust mount, bolt spacing is correct too! 8)

I used to wrap a piece of fence wire around my exhaust and then connect it to the SU fuel pump by wrapping it around the body of the pump. When the pump stopped and the motor ran out of fuel, the motor would jump and shake the crap out of the pump via the exhaust pipe.

That usually fixed it. 8)

are you serious!! that's a pisser :D   one of the best examples of Aussie ingenuity out there :D

can't say I've ever had a problem with the SU electric, other than when I've left one sitting around for a couple of years. Just used to have problems with them on dad's minors where they sat on the firewall and would vapourise inside cos of the heat...

I think it was Mark Paget up in QLD who taught me that one, years ago...

I thought it made a better story than a solution myself....but being a poor apprentice sparky made me change my mind :)

Thanks for the replies folks. When you consider it, a re-co engine means exactly that. Change the oil pump because you really don't know how old it is. AND they're only $60 or there-a-bouts.

About the fuel pump, Erin hates hearing the tic-tic of my fuel pump and wants the mechanical sort - therefore, new one of them too.

Thanks again for the replies :)
