I have a kermit green clubby as well - it was featured in Mini experience in the third edition (I think third)

When its clean and polished it certainly gets noticed.

Does anyone know if replacing the rusted boot is easy? I know quite a few people that are very handy with welding, im just wondering If I should let this mini go and keep looking as its got a rusted boot, and been in an accident. I guess Im after some advice from those that have had experience buying minis and know what sort of condition they come in, if the problems I am seeing are pretty common across most minis, and buying it at $700 for a 1977 clubman. Sorry if Im repeating, just dont want to buy a lemon. You understand!

Any car that you buy for that sort of money is going to have plus or minus the same problems. Replacing the boot is not that hard and the panels are fairly readily available.

But ask yourself what is it you want to do with the car. For some people its the restoration process thats important - that is every last nut and bolt restored. For others its the thrill of owning and driving a historic vehicle with the restoration the barest minimum to make it servicable.

There is also the cost. You can spend an awful lot of money making the perfect mini or you can do what you seem to be doing. That is finding a good priced mini (and yours is) getting it going and simply enjoying it.

In contrast to others on here, I say that a mini is a joy for two hours at a time. Beyond that it becomes hard work and they do not make reliable daily drivers. Watch the storm of protests here !!!!!!!!

Yeah well my aim is to do a restoration, to the point that the car is on very good condition. But I want to add a new motor, and set it up for tour driving like Great ocean road, dandenongs, etc. I guess if the panels are available, and the rust is a common problem I dont feel so bad about buying it, and by the sound of it its at a good price. I will even be able to drive it home its that good!. lol.

Quick question for someone:

Imagine the bonet of a normal car is open and you are looking at the engine bay. You know where the radiuator goes? There is a panel/beam running along infront of that the the rad mounts to and the bonet latches onto. Is that beam/panel attached to the chassis, or is it replacable? (Its the beam that the bonet latches into when you close the bonet). Cheers.

Send me your email and i will send you a file - its a couple of meg - that shows all the mini panels and their part numbers.

The beam you refer to on a clubman (not a roundy though) is held on by three bolts on either side and is easily removeable or replaceable. Simply get one from a wreckers etc if you need one.
