Not sure if they still keep them.

OR
Stick the video camera under the bonnet and take it for a run up the road! :D

the instructions say not to do that... it'd probably melt the electrode. Plus it doesn't have the heat range... even though I know you're kidding, someone would probably suggest a nice little CCD camera
I know that you are not supposed to run them under load, that is why you need the video camera, to get footage of the arse blowing out of the colourtune!

I found the cheapest place to buy it was the MG site in the UK especially if you get 2 or 3 other items as well - it reduces the overall postage per item.

AJ used to use one on his speedway mini, he reckons he had no trouble revving past 5k with the colourtune in to test it but he said that it's not quite the same as under load but gives a very good starting point.

I've been using these (colourtune or quartz plugs) since I was about 14 I guess - even on the lawnmower. How do you think I got the EFI to work on the five porter (hint hint)?? I even used one for my uni thesis...

Doesn't work under load (well it wouldn't last long from the heat soak) but provides a really good base to see where you are heading - it's not just about HP you know.

Rob (Boink on here) wandered into a REPCO down in Hastings Vic late last year. In the parts runout bin they always seem to have near the counter, he found a pile of Gunson Colortunes for 7 bucks each ( ) so he bought the lot (about eight I think)

I already had one, but he was awesome enough to send me one in the mail....only thing better than one colortune is two colortunes...so I can check the mixture on two cylinders at once (say inner and outer cylinder which seems to run a little richer).

Ha ha!

I've had one of these for years and never knew how it worked. Every time I have a clean up I think I'll get rid of it, then I think, nah, I'll hang onto it. It just might come in handy one day.

I always just thought it was a bit of a gadget, but now I think I'll give it a go over the next week or so - time permitting.

Mine has the original packaging (though a bit dirty) and even the original instructions, bottle of cleaning fluid and cleaning brush. Just dug it out of the shed and had a read of the instructions and it seems simple enough.

It just might be the answer to tuning with unleaded fuel, since you can't tell anything from the colour of the exhaust pipe.

I've had it so long I can't remember where or when I got it, but I suspect that someone gave it to me as I can't see that I would have parted with any hard-earned for something that I didn't understand or ever use.

Good onya Simon.

Cheers,
Watto.
