Why the A+ Head on the 'S' block :?
Be careful with that heatwrap - it can keep too much the tubing, making it weak - and crack. And deform in other places. I never believed it until it happened to me :(

Nah, she's a standard A series 12G940 head (With the S valves of course), never had any reason to think otherwise. Why do you think it's an A+? Unless you are comparing it to a MK1 head with the different intake and exhaust face? Or the heavily sculpted top surface of the turbo head? (The thermostat end is machined flat like normal 940's)

Yeah I have heard that about the wrap before, were you able to then weld it up again? or had the steel been to far gone? I've kept mine a bit wrapeed once over so as not to insulate it to the Nth degree, I hope that helps. I had it wrapped on a stainless steel WRX system for 4 years, it used to run up and down the no speed limit Northern Territory Highways for all that time with no probs, but it was stainless after all.

I was just looking at the casting shape on the end of the head - and no heater take-off :?:

My exhaust was GONE. One set of Maniflow LCB's in the bin :( Where the wrap was pulled tight, it had squished the pipes. Where it was heavily overlaid or there were some tighter bends in the pipe, it was really quite bad. The pattern off the fibreglass was imprinted into the pipes! The weld where 1&3 join usually cracks, too. My brothers' ones did that when wrapped. But they were Wildcats.

I only used it to get some heat away from the weber. Now i won't run the tape. I'm sure i'll end up making some form of heat shield one day.

Nah, pretty sure sh'e just an A series head. The heater take off is just covered up because it's just been painted. Also there's only one stud fitted for the hater take off which may throw you off.

On a lowered car YES.
On a normal height car NOT usually, unless it droops excessively.

I did.

But like willy said, lowered cars have issues....and mine was lowered because the cones were shot.....not by choice.
