Hi Mick,

That red Mini would most likely be Ian Stewart.

Ian transferred this log book over to his name on 28/1/1983. How do I know this? Because it is the car the I race in Group N now!

I have the original log book as issued by Cams in 1980. The original owner was Jack Lacey from Queensland. The log book lists Ian racing the car at Oran Park six times in 1983. His colours were always Red with a black roof as far as I know.

The car has been raced continuously from 1980 until now except for six years between 1988 and 1994 when the car was hillclimbed around the Canberra area.

I believe the shell has been replaced. It looks to be an early 850 shell on the car now and I believe it was originally a genuine Austin Cooper S. Ian made mention in The Mini Experience that he still has a geniune shell which may be from this car. It would be interesting to find out the history before 1980 as Jack Lacey raced Mini's in the early 1970's. (maybe before??).

Does anyone remember an Austin Cooper S registered in Queensland SIO 71 ??

HRS

You are probably spot on Anthony, I was only guessing and Ian told me that his car came from QLD.

If you ever want to contact him, BERCO Engine Reconditioners at Mitchell ACT is him....I think son Chris does a lot in the business these days.

[PS but what about the Borgward Q I asked via PM :?: ]
