Thanks guys....If I could be sure of making a perfect cut I would modify the one I have. Over the years when I have pulled the screens out for whatever reason I notice that the seals are under a little tension when replacing them.......This also pulls the external edges a little tighter to form a good seal against the body work. I never saw wrinkles on the internal edges until (as some have mentioned here) the inconsistencies of the modern after market seals. Has any one done a cut and glue recently? If so how did you get it perfectly square without deformity of the moulding? What glue is used? Cheers Kev.B.

I have done a couple in the last few years. I cut the rubber longer than it needs to be by a margin and squeeze it in. I cut it using a new razor blade for a clean edge and by making it longer and pushing it in it will not need any glue in the seal because of compression between the two ends.
The last windscreen I put in bunched up in the corners like in the image at the start of the thread, but I left them be and they settled back flush against the screen after a little while. I suppose the rubber finds its own happiness and moves a little once its in.

I did a cut and fit, but did not bother to glue as it is a track car. glue just adds weight. It won't be out in the rain long enough to leak or in the sun for long enough for the rubber to shrink back and make a gap.

Best glue for rubber is good old superglue - one drop in the middle -line it up and press together - no room for mistakes
