Mate you were the only one driving the car and while you say you were not clowning you made a mistake in the decision of how fast to drive in the conditions, easy peasy a lack of experience as Mike has alluded to, now learn the lesson and don't make the mistake again as next time it might be someone important to you and not a post :D

lesson has been learnt..... dont worry about that....

Sorry to hear of your accident.

Experience is the main thing that makes a safe driver. I did a couple of defensive driving courses and they taught me a lot but i have learnt so much more by just spending time on the road.

As much as it is frowned upon, i think there's a lot to be said for clowning around in an empty carpark in the wet. Doing some sharp turns, handbrakies, emergency stops etc will show you exactly what the car does in those situations. It helps you get a feel for your car and what its limits are. If the only time you find that out is when you're on the road amongst other cars then you're in for some stife unless you can learn things in the milisecond it takes for an accident to happen.

Another important lesson, that I think Gafmo alluded to: check the condition of your tires.
Old tyres regardless of how much tread can go hard and lose grip, likewise tires low in tread will not expel water as well and have less grip.

It doesn't have to be speed related, you may have just learnt your tires weren't up to it?

Best of luck wih getting it repaired, it does look fairly minor fortunately.

im replacing the tyres asap....

luckily i wasnt goin too fast so that reduced alot of damage thankfully.....

had a really bad week......

first my phone was put in the washing machine...so its stuffed..

then at school some ning nong let all 4 tyres down so they were on the rim...

then the car played up again... missing and really struggling to do 60kmh

and now smashed it up a bit.....

so glad this week is over.....

PS. im currently looking for a clubman grill minus the headlight bits....if you can spare one... pm me a price...

cheers

That really sucks man.

Hope you dont get treated too badly over it. Its all part of the learning.

Glad to see you are ok, and that you were the only one involved.
Real pitty about the mini, but nothign some TLC cant fix.

I used to do this whenever i drove a different car...FWD, RWD, different makes...was fun..and it does teach you alot. A deserted industrial carpark is also good.

Defensive driving courses are good. I've done a couple, if you are with AAMI (or even your parents) they do one for free. The government should step up and make it compulsory for part of your P's.

Also Track Day's are good, or get involved in your local club and do Motorkhana's..

Post up a closeup of your tires? What brand are they?

Tough luck, but you are lucky that damage isn't too bad 8)

It's all too easy to come into a wet corner too hot in a mini and understeer..or any FWD car...probably beats having oversteer damage.

Defensive driving is fine and you learn heaps... but I think EVERY single Driver should do their motorcycle test as mandatory (it'll never happen) because if you ever rode in your life you learn to look around... makes you a MUCH better driver!

Peter.

i agree,
number of times ive had to avoid cars pulling out of driveways in mornings! and i havent riden much at all! certianly makes you aware of not only other cars, but also how fast you are going!
