One: make sure you have oil pressure first by turning her over with the ignition disabled...so that means either borrowing an Oil Pressure guage temporarily or fitting one permanently.

Two: shes going to be tight...she will overheat...so be gentle and patient

The run it hard right after after rebuild theory is supported by locals here in the ACT that use Black Mountain for engine run-ins. Steep incline, working hard up thru the gears  , no labouring and definitely no bloody GTX friction modified/synthetic stuff! So the answer I guess is to head for the hills asap without too much pottering around getting there.

When I bought my pretty Fiat 124 Sports coupe new in 1969, I was advised to drive it pretty hard to bed the rings etc in.
The sticker on the window read-
0-600ML, 4,500 rpm max
600-1200ML, 5,500 rpm max
1200-2400ML, 6,500 max.
I was doing 160KMH 3 days after bought, within these guidelines. :D

Those twin cam Fiat donks could really sing. I remember my mate's circa 1970 124S sedan which spent most of it's life around the red line. Only 1200cc I believe :P

The pushrod 124A sedan was 1197cc, the 124AC twin cam coupe (like mine) was 1438, the 124BC coupe was 1608, and the 124CC coupe was 1796? or something.
the 1438 twincams sang nicely, but torque was pretty poor below 4000rpm. Redline was 6800. I used to use 7400 in 3rd gear down the Oran Pk straight (South circuit). Waste of time going for 4th.. and never mind 5th.
