Yes i agree with what you are saying , you need to be careful what you use , i am going to try them on the off chance they give a better light output , if they don't , i havent lost much , as they are quite cheap .........cheers

sorry guy's, I know the LED look is cool but you will have to look for the ADR approved LED'S otherwise you run the risk of getting defected, or even worse someone running into you and they say "didn't see you brakes/indincator" and the insurance company looks for broken bulbs and find non ADR LED'S and won't pay you a cent for your troubles. Be careful that you have side projection LED bulbs their about 5 times as expencive as the shite illegal ones on ebay but will keep you outta trouble

I have used similar LED bulbs in the back of a few of my minis for years, but the later type with the side LEDs are far superior and not much more expensive, dont let people tell you they cant see them cos they are far brighter than std red bulbs or clear bulbs on a red lense.
I use mine on clear lenses also my mate used them on red lenses they look great.

Dick Smiths are $10 each and at that price you can't make them for less. I was looking to make some like the MiniMania ones but when the LEDs alone work out at close to $30 each side I thought why bother when DSEs are so cheap

OK so which LEDs are ADR approved? What to look for?

Cheers

Are they dual intensity for parker/brake light applications? or are they only good for blinkers?

Quote:
Cat No. P8629
* Cluster of 19 High Intensity Red LEDs
* Designed for 12V dc operation
* Suits all negative polarity chassis grounded cars and motorcycles
* Suits standard #1157 bayonet lamp fitting
* Double terminal base makes this suited as a LED replacement lamp for tail and brake lighting
* Longer life than incandescent filament lamps (10,000 hours minimum up to 20,000 hours)
* Low current drain
* Shock and vibration resistant
* Pure monochromatic colour
* Almost instant turn on⁄off

They have similar ones in clear, etc for blinkers, but nowhere do they say anything about being legal for on-road use.
