I was silly enough to have a go at a Suzuki Mighty Boy once. Fair enough, it was a close race, but he pipped me after about 80 m's. It wasnt until that afternoon at the pub I was informed that mighty boy was owned by the Jap parts wrecker dude, and was slightly modified as well(with jap parts obviously ).

He shoulda modified a mini instead, eh?

Apart from that I would never say i've raced anyone in my mini. I'm too scared of breaking it off the line.

In a straight line my modified 1100 can be burnt off by most modern cars, but roundabouts are a different story. 8)

My favourite piece of road on the way home from work starts with traffic lights, about 200m of straight four lane road followed by a sharp right hander into a not-very-busy two lane roundabout. On the other side of the roundabout the two lanes merge into one. I've got that stretch down to a fine art now. Modern cars beast me off at the lights, but I'm almost always in front leaving the roundabout, no matter which lane I choose. I've beaten a new HSV, a 200SX and WRX through that roundabout! The look ontheir faces as I scream through in front of them is fantastic!! :D

hehehe, commodore drivers always have to prove their late model huge engined rearwheel drive commodore is better than your tiny little classic front wheel drive 4 cyl mini.

hard to picture unless you live here but i tell it anyway. there is a road at the bottom of my street that is windy and curvey and has a couple of short striahgts to strtch your legs it is useualy a 3rd 2nd lat out kinda course with a ouple of low 4ths in it. anyway i was on the way home and i saw a done up nissan skyline gtr go down the road i quikly followed thinking, this is my turf buddy, by the 3rd corner i'd caught up to him and he decided to try and run.
whoosh went his turbo, he had huge fat tyres aswell, he couldn't chake me on the corners at all, wit hthe lighter body i was able to brake later and turn fsater with less momentum aswell as start accelerating quiker.
i'm talking about my old 998 here. he got a bit of distance ont he striahg tnad ran a commowhore half way of the road into the grss on the next corner, i was far enough behind to make him look as though he was just a stupid hoon (and not me) (btw: most people treat backroads around here as a race track so everyone who drives them keeps allert, this is the worst i've ever seen things, and yes, even me in my mini have been forced of the road every now and then. alot of times have passed where if i was in anything but a mini i would have had a major fender bender.)
i caught up by the end of the straight but he slowed me down before the hill. so i lost sight of him there, then i caught back up to him on the downhill.
we got to the junction which goes onto the highway, and he looked over i gave a little wave and a grin and quikly turned away. burned onto the highway and then quikly of it again. on any other of the roads round here he would have lost me easily, but this one is mini territory.

Depends on the driver IMO whether you win loss or whatever. Best example I can give is a story I heard from a old friends of mine. He and his mates went for a speed day up the F3 years ago. One in a 92 Prelude, one in a Lotus Elise, One in a Ferrari testarossa , one in a old school Supra boxy shape, one in a rx7 and one other in a GTR Skyline. They raced 6 time and each driver had a go in each others car and the guy who owned the supra won every time except when driving the Skyline(because in his terms it was a piece of poo)....lol.

Another is when I completely obliterated this A3 turbo in my LS before I did anything to my engine except exhaust. Straight racing into a swooping left bend. I ended up 3 or so car lengths ahead.

It's fun showing what a Mini is capable of even if you don't win most times they look scared even if you're not out in front. "How can that even keep up with me, let alone overtake me" ... I've heard that one yelled at me through a window.

Gadgets claims lurking is reviving old, dead threads, by way of pretending they're not old, dead threads. Thats all. A BUMP would have been nice, would have saved some confusion.
