ahhhhh ok well i shall ahve a look at the fuel filter tomorrow.

also i'll do plugs and points while i'm there!
Don't touch the electrics until you know for sure that the fuel filter is the problem.
If you fiddle with fuel and electrics and the car won't start you will not know what to fix.
Cure one problem before you bring more problems into the situation.

A quick test to see if the filter is the problem. Remove the filter and drive up the road. If it runs Ok you know it is the filter. If it still runs crap you know it isn't the filter.

PROBLEM SOLVED!

so after i got off here on sunday i went up to the shop and bought a fuel filter, i had a look at the one that was in there, and grabbed the same numbered filter off the shelf. i also had a look through the book, and under leyland cars ther were only oil and air filters listed (for ALL leyland cars and trucks) which i thought was a bit wierd as other makes had fuel, petrol and diesel filters listed. but i think i grabbed the same number (the old one had worn off a bit...) and it fits, and the problem has ceased.

so cheers for the advice fellas!!!
