Typical , most of the "oficial" hysotries of Bathurst start in 1967 because they're only interested in Ford or Holden and don't want to be embarrassed .....

The V8 neanderthals didn't like it because it wasn't their home grown , aussie produced V8 commodores and falcons      We all know they're living in a dreamworld . It'd be good to see production commodores against production falcons just to see what would actually happen , throw in a few other manufacturers as well and see if they get embarrassed .

They were never going to show the mini's on TV, there is no commercial benifit in doing so. Once peter brock died, it was this that stopped us seeing anything on the mini front. The mini's may have been run as filler until the race started, but there was plenty of filler in the Tributes to brock. Sad but true i am sorry to say.

My question is though, did they even get out on the track on sunday? or where they canned?

Cheers
Aaron

We got out, and were let off the leash to "have fun". Unfortunately we caught up to the parade lap, and up until then we were motoring along. Bob Holden gave tips prior to the lapon what lines to take around Castrol corner and the Cutting, and it was a fantastic weekend. :D

Pics to come (tomorrow).

We certainly did get out on the track. There were no instuctions before the lap on driving slowly, only to have some safe fun, and we all did that. There was some very 'spirited' driving up mountain straight and up through the cutting, with plenty of overtaking which would have been quite entertaining for TV. However we were slowed by the drivers parade that was doing a 'Skaifey' on the top of the montain, stopping in the middle of the track.
Should be some good video and photos though, and the crowd seemed to enjoy the minis on the mountain. :D :D

I am also a bit anti V8 Supercar based on the fact that it is and has made a couple of promotors very wealthy. Its also set up up for television and the spectators really dont count except for perhaps Bathurst.

The formula itself has gone about as far as it can and yesterday was testament to that with the number of crashes due to tyre and component failure (not to mention the fatality and injuries). The drivers themselves now openly state that the cars are complex and difficult to drive.

I too would like a production car series again have the major backing and sponsorship as I find it difficult to understand that corporate Ford and General Motors pays much more than lip service to the formula and really, they are not Fords or Holdens but are hybrids more like a speedway sedan.

I would just like to be sure that a replacement series didn't become a two make series of WRX's and Mitsub Evo's roaring around.

I do love motor sport though what ever its form

I agree , but even though it does have very little to do with the production cars , they are virtually sillouettes only , the fans get whipped into almost rabid states and I guess that's what Ford and Holden want , so long as the cars look like theirs then it helps the sales ....

For the first time EVER, I actually had difficulty working out which car was a Holden and which was a Ford! It might have been the LCD I was watching on, but seriously, the cars are looking more and more alike these days. :?
