I deal with insurance companies every day of the week mate....

DON'T ACCEPT WHAT YOUR NOT HAPPY WITH!!!!

Every insurance company has procedures in place for these types of matters and they will always try and give you the least amount. Its a business to them and they will try and reduce costs no matter what.

But remember its not your business, your pride and joy has been damaged and I'm guessing its not your fault that its occurred, therefore which ever insurance company is accepting your claim should cover the costs of repairs to your car regardless on what they perceive is the market value.

A few tips for dealing with insurance companies........

1. Write every persons full name down when you speak to them on the phone including the date and time.

2. Anything they say to you write down word for word.......they will be doing the same thing to you and if things get complicated and a "he said, she said" event occurs they will be able to revert back to tapes or type messages on their computer systems and quote what you've said. Do the same to them.

3. Don't be afraid to ask for the person your speaking to's supervisor if your not getting satisfaction regardless if they say they are the end of the line, go all the way to the national manager if you have to. The higher up the food chain your complaint goes the better your chance of a satisfactory result. Upper management has better things to do than handle a $2000 issue when they need to be dealing with multi million dollar issues that they're getting paid for.

4. Remember its your property, that is covered by an insurance policy which has been paid for either by you or the other party.

I've seen some people get ridiculous amounts of extra work or issues rectified by simply whinging to the top, your complaint is a genuine one, you can't replace a registered car with $1100, Find classifieds with mini's for sale at any and every price to support your case. Not everyone is capable of repairing their own cars due to either expertise or time or space etc, and having your car listed on a written off vehicle register is not in your best interests when it comes to sell in the future.

Sure go for a cash settlement if you are confident you can repair it yourself, if not INSIST your car is repaired by a qualified shop either of their choice or yours. Most insurance companies offer lifetime guarantees on repairs performed by shops on their repair shop networks, any panelshop should be capable of repairing this mini easily enough.

If your not satisified don't settle until you are!!!
