Not a trailer, a flying bath tub.

And when the roof is up, they are a flying tent.

Both terms used affectionately of course... :D

Mick, after having an animated conversatation with a lovely scottish man at the RTA technical dept this morning, my mini was originally a 1098, 15% over that is a 1262,79 so thats under the 15% increase.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

Doogie, the rule is:

Quote:
engine changes where the capacity increase is less than 15% above the maximum size engine available for the vehicle

Now if I am not wrong the maximum size for minis was 1275. What is different between a Cooper S and a regular deluxe/K? brakes is the only significant thing safety wise so I can't see what the fuss is about. Take it to another RTA!

Our Barney was originally (in 1967) a 998, now has 1275A+, neither the blueslip inspector nor the RTA gave us any grief when we changed it, last year.
Only dialogue was whether it should be a 1273 (in RTA's book) or a 1275.
I produced rego for my other car, told inspector the book was wrong, and he agreed.

well it looks like i got a few people on here thinking

i have received a couple of PMs, and no i did not single out any individual and have a go at them. I saw two separate threads, asking essentially the same question, and i thought it a good idea do a little educational exercise. I see it has mostly been taken in good spirits 8)

I am critical of certain so called professionals whose business it is to know this stuff, and simply don't. they should not be asking you to pay for their best guess.

as far as the loving bunch here is concerned, like i said, look it up at the source, read it, understand it and take it with you when you go for whatever registration inspection your state requires.

saunters off to the sound of the stones "start me up"

see you all a MDU (probably helping Bob organise the dyno stuff - but he gets ALL the credit for that)

cheers
michael
