Hi Jim,
Chris coudn't find the fuel pump, which actually helped.
So we gravity fed the carby and the found ignition had no spark.
I removed every contact point going back to the switch.
While turning the ignition on and off several times it came good on it's own.
Chris followed me home.
My guess is the car has an ignition switch fault.
I'll check it out over the next couple of weeks.
John

No prob,
I do it for customers.
I can do it for myself.
My auto elec will think it's funny.
He wanted to rewire the car, But I wanted to keep the original wiring harness. I will start by putting in another swich and running through the harness and all contacts.
John.

Just a normal day in Mini-land John  ....there are some very good reproduction harnesses around....I would certainly be considering one if I had the brilliant Monaco in my garage

A fella here also got additional wiring laced in (using the original colour codes etc for extra lights etc)

30-40 year old wiring can be just too dodgey sometimes.....its a risk that all owners of older cars take every time they "press the plonker" and fire up the car (oops! no pun intended  )

Cheers, Mick

PS she looked beautiful at MDU.

Hi Mick,
I know what you mean about old wiring.
The harness is actually very good. I have had not 1 problem in the last 7 years, so I was due for one I guess.
I'm just lucky it happened close to home and within a helpfull enviroment.
I think it may just be an ignition switch problem.
John.
