I had the problem with the loose clamp and the bottom of the column except that the clamp was done up all the way and was still not clamped up tight.
I made the slot in the column a bit wider by carefully filing out the slot and now it is tight.

Easiest way to widen clamp slot- get a hacksaw and fit 2 blades in it... :wink:

No Doc, the easiest way is with a cutting disc in the grinder. The best way is two hacksaw blades but the easiest is my way! (besides I can never find my spare hacksaw blades in all my mess!)

I bought a tool chest last year- now I can find things like new hacksaw blades etc.
Before, it was " I know I got some... but WTF are they!" :lol:
