If there's `glycol' looking fluid (it's not really glycol) on top, usually it's a hose gone at the crimp.
Can be fixed- see http://www.austinamericausa.com/
click on technical information, suspension.
Details there for building a GOOD hydro pump too.

according to the factory manual, yes you can pack the knuckles with washers but there is a limit, I think 3/8" all up from memory, and this gives you an extra inch or so (in the ride height I mean, so don't get too excited)

If the bag has just sagged a bit but still functional, yes it will work.

I have two washers 1/16" each on either side of the front on mine, only thing that seemed to work.

Get the proper ones, try Mini Spares at Padstow. Larry will know the ones.

Cheers
Matt

Just a thought going back to the original one side dropping a bit , was there any fluid in the valve cap at the rear subframe on the sagged side ? Just wondering if the truck driver unloading the mini thought (or was told by a former mini owning expert...) it was an airbag suspension and tried to pump it up from the trucks tank to give it more height to get off or something ... WOuldn't be the first time something like that's happened ...

Thanks Mike, you saved me the search I was trhinking about Clubmn, but theres a retired bloke up in Werribee (5 k's) who has an original pump and will do it for the same cost. If I could find one for a good price I would buy it. And I just don't have the time to really make one (I really don't!)

You must be talking about minimacs. Hes been in the mini business in victoria for ever and day, and knows his stuff.
He will see you right. Just to give you a heads up he has a very dry personality, he can come across a bit nasty but he is really a good guy, just take him with a grain of salt.

Yeah that's the fellow Minimac, I spoke to him on the phone and yes he does seem a dry type. I can deal with dry though, it's easier than smug :)

Yeah I'll do the bit with the washers then and see how it goes, I just wasn't sure if there was some kind of crazy hydraulicky fluid dynamicksy thing I might upset by doing so. I'm just playing around with knuckles at the moment re-greasing while I'm there and I'll change a CV boot as well (just for giggles  ).

Gday Mick,

I added washers to the front of my mini as per the workshop manual, there seems to be a ratio between the joint and the suspension arm angle, a set of verniers and a disc grinder can get you the washers required to give your mini a bit more front attitude.
(don't forget to re-check headlight aiming afterwards)
As an eastern stater who became a sandgroper from '88 to '1999, the East ain't that bad, but I wish I could transfer the life I have here to the weather over there.

At least there's plenty of "fine" weather over here at the moment if that's what you call it.

I added the washers to the front and muddled around with the rear suspension helper springs, I even found a small spanner I left behind tte RH tank in 1996. Cool, like a time capsule..sorta...heaps more boring than a proper one though.

No I just gotta get it pumped up, and Minimac doesn't work on Saturdays....bummer.
Maybe I will call Clubmn, it's a bit late though though on Friday nite to be calling....

Has Pete closed down yet?

Oh, and our state is not usually on fire and covered in smoke.

Nah pete doesn't shut down till Christmas, so I reckon he may be up for a few bargains. Maybe one of those Franko Cozzo grand sales you get down this way.

Lol, I've never seen a state quite as flammable as Victoria. The relatives in Holland are hearing all about it on their news and inquired if Point Cook was burning or not.
