Just measured mine - both 0.75" - OK I'm running a servo 8) but that means I've bought the wrong kit

Clutch M/C should be 0.75" bore, a .70" (brake one) doesn't move enough fluid, causing clutch drag and dodgy adjustability.
I know this as I've bought several cars that had em on....

Your brake M/C should be 0.70" bore for most everything with twin leading shoe drums, or discs.
If you use a 0.75" pedal effort will be too high- unless running a servo.
Even the Cooper S ran a 0.70".

So, I wouldn't swap `em, for these 2 reasons.
With the plastic extensions it makes no difference, it's easy to top up.

I'm sure you can turn the correct brake MC around when mounting it - ie still mount it on the brake MC location but just with the top up cap away from the firewall - I've done this on my car.

BUT it seems that in the 2nd pic (the white car) the MC's werent just turned around but were actualy swapped in places. They just look like the wrong MCs for their spots - (ie the brake MC is in the clutch MC's spot and vise versa). Am I wrong here?

If you turn them around they have to swap places as the flange is on a different angle and you can't get them on as they are too close to each other. So although both mine are 0.75" they are brake and clutch as the flanges are different.

Oh and I've decided to put the filler to the back as original

850s originally had both cylinders 0.75" bore....
Are you still running the old 850 single leading shoe front brakes? I'd swap them with Deluxe ones (or discs!!) if so.

Your .75" MC will be OK with a servo, but if no servo I'd get a 0.70" one.
Too bloody hard to push otherwise. 15% harder...

Location: Sydney - strangely, I am glad of the sight of hills!!
my 850 has .75" m/c and servo with deluxe drums. it pulls up nicely, little effort on the pedal, but its a LOOOOOOOONG pedal  standard outcome of adding a booster  so that can work in my limited experience.

incidentaly the booster is mounted in the boot, and there is a vacuum tank under the rear seat to maintain brakes in case of engine failure (all according the the prvious owner who had it 40 years and put these in 8) )

my other car also has cooper S discs WITHOUT a booster. total opposite in feel.

cheers
michael

I'm pretty sure you can turn atleast the brake one around without swapping them places - I'll get a pic of mine as soon as I'm finaly back to Sydney
