Yeah, that means they are the older type, plane landing lamps. They are cheaper.
I mean I am looking 4 HID(Xenon), not halogen (I think this is more yellowish).
Wipac? did you approach them directly (since in UK)? or you buy them from a dealer here?

You are looking for something that is going to be very hard to get from a mini, all these 'problems' you talk about are normal for a
40 year old car especially considering the price you paid for it what more could you expect?
Stop trying to learn everything in a week and take the bloody thing to someone who knows what they are doing before you do some serious damage too.
Sell the matic and go buy this.
