Most mini's will have some type of oil leak somewhere , it's part of them and the age of components . How big a leak is the real question , a spot or two per day or a dinner plate sized puddle per day ? The first accesory most peoplembuy for their mini is an oil drip tray for the garage floor . If it ever stops leaking oil then you know it needs topping up
Ic. So even the best done up old minis will have the same problem, heh? ok. The leak is like the size of a 5 cent coin for the spot and another smaller than it. So there are actually 2 places. And those 2 spots on the floor are always wet.
Well, I don't know how many drops it leaks out from the same points. But I think it is contiunously dropping (though I can't see it cus it drops slow and just haven't got the patience to sit there and watch them all the time especially the mosquitoes are all around you cus they will most likely attack you when you are still). However, I can see the drop is hanging there from the gearbox and when I touch it it's all greasy and wet.
There was once when I make a sharper downwards turn and the engine just went out (Note: the mini was just fuelled up with 98 Octane petrol(V-Power)). So I guess it might be the engine oil? But then I see the oil gauge, it's right at the 50% mark, I then take the dip-stick out and saw that it's actaully @ MIN (Note I only drove it 5 times - 20min each time). The level is just right at the middle of the "M" letter. So I bought some motor oil and open the rocker cap, pour almost half of the 8L bottle in. But there seems no much difference in the oil Guage and I use a torch and look inside where I pour the oil and trying to see what happens after I keep filling it - well, not much difference, maybe 1-2 mm rise in height. Probably something wrong with the reading? If so, where could I bring it to fix it (i.e the oil gauge detection).
