no wasnt aimed at you jam,,, more at the developers that get 6 or 7 houses and sit back on there ass and make money of the renters and then double there money on them in 4 years, then go buy 10 more and lift the prices up somewhere else.

The way oz is going we are going to be decreasing in population soon as no one can afford to live, let alone have kids. Hopefully then the people that make money on nesesaties like homes will go get a real job.

sorry if i offended you.

its cool 8)

I actually wrote to the paper and had my letter published, about developers taking a block of land that housed say 4 people, then wacking onto it a concrete jungle that houses 40 people, without a care for the existing neighbourhood......so I can relate to your frustration.

yeah it all sucks, as much as i don't want to
turn this link into a winge bout house prices,
it shits me that i have to put 1/4 of my pay into
a bank every week so i can afford a deposit
on a house that will bereal expensive
and i wont even have a g'rage to put my cars in...
while developers driving their BINIs sit back and laugh
while our streets and infrastructure fall down
around us cos we have 50 people living on a block
of land that used to house one family. and i live
in a tin shed with no garage.... but lets be thankful
that we all drive minis so that when the traffic comes heaps
glogged up we can dart in and out all we please

We are way OT! But anyway...

The developers will continue to do that as long as people continue to buy/rent their little boxes.

A lot of the "investors" are not developers, but Mums and Dads that are being told by the property gurus how easy it is. I live in a cheap area of Melbourne and we have had bulk
investors coming down from Sydney and buying up houses. Then they find the can't rent them out, as there are not enough renters for the houses on offer.

We bought on the outskirts of Melbourne because it was cheap. We have three bedrooms (15sq), a 1/4 acre block and four car garage. We have still more than doubled our money in 5 years and our mortgage is so small it would make Sydney people cry.

Sometimes you have to bit the bullet and just do it. My wife fell ill just after we got married and our income halved overnight as she could not work for a year or so. I could have easily spent our deposit money on Mini bits. Instead I grit my teeth, stopped working on my van and we survived with one car (Excel) for a couple of years while we saved. When we walked in the door all we had $150 in the bank and a $3,000 credit card debt. But it was all worth it now.

Even if you have to buy in an unfashionable area or a long way from work/family/friends. Once you have got a house and you are watching it grow in value, you won't be whinging anymore. Believe me!

Hey Wolfman, are Marshall's still near the Mobil Servo on Dawson Road in Gladstone?? They were always able to help me out with my old Holden.

They dont always have the parts ya need, but I prefer dealing with the independent parts places. Much friendlier, and they still know their crap.

I like Walshs's Auto in Townsville. The guy there has his own moke, and had parts available and cheaper than the local mini pirate.

EDIT........ oh yeah, and prices on houses up here have doubled in the last two years as well. Aint that great now I've got enough money for a good deposit on a house, ill never be able to make the repayments.

the plastic housing that the blinker arm slots into on my mini has cracked
so when i go to indicate i have to push the arm into place and gentle turn the arm
also, since the horn needs to earth thru the arm, it doesn't work when it falls out!
Rather dangerous!
does anyone know how much it costs to replace the whole assembly?
and where the best place to get one is(i.e. cheapest!)?

I have the workings of a MK1 little green blinky one. I had two and made up a good one from the 2 - all it needs is an end assembly that holds the globe and the green bit - Mark Foster in the UK (MK1 on MM board) puts together a kit with the black plastic end bit, globe and green cap - it's what I used to finish off mine. Anyone want to make an offer?

falcon somewhere in this forum
someone said you can use a Ford escort blinker
or some similar old one

wombat
dad got a globe with a green cap
$7 im not sure where
needed a little persuasion to get the broken bits out
theres a little metal housing inside the stalk
looks like the metal bit at the base of a broken globe
dont get confused and rip this bit out
