Do your mini a favour and use Penrite - Please

Penrite isn't THAT good in a mini - too many additives..it's OK though. Good in modern stuff.

KMX is GOOD stuff, especially changed regularly. I'm using it in the moke now and it's great, gear changes are great on the stuff.

If money was no object, Castrol EDGE is probably the best stuff you can get...if the mini didn't drink so much oil and i didn't do oil changes so often.

Hey Guys,
Sub $16 oil changes ???, I brought the KMX for $14.95 , what filter can you buy for $1..........

Gerg

Well according to that ad above it's $12 for 6L. Last time I bought KMX it was $11.80 or something. FSA brand filters can be bought from many places including a mob in Canley Vale for $3.99 each.

$11.80 + $3.99 = Sub $16.

Thanks

Last time I went to that Canley Vale shop (Mekong Spares, haha) they were out of FSA, there was a warehouse fire or something.
So I got a dozen `Cooper' ones for $3.80 each instead. :D
Most filters (even Ryco) come from Korea or China now.

Mekong's prices sure beat the crap out of SuperDear Auto's...

Thanks Chong,
I brought a Ryco Z418 to day for $12.99.... :x , so me thinks I will be looking for some different brands from now on. I might try a place called Mr Filters at Girraween (Amax Ave), my cousin gets all of his truck filters from there and they are less than half the price of genuine....

cheers Gerg

Get them from wherever you want but if you are paying more than $4 a filter you are not looking hard enough!!!

I bought 12 FSA filters for $3.80 per filter. This is about the same price as buying one bottle of Penrite and will last you almost 2 years depending on the miles you do. Once you have a collection of filters, it becomes so much easier to change whenever you feel like it

I also stocked up on the last of the Formula R. 3 bottles left. Once they are out, I will move over to KMX full time, unless I can talk Mekong Spares into selling me 6 or 12 bottles of Edge 25W50 for near cost price :P

There are 2 different filters here-

`Cooper' is made in Korea, and is dark blue. Everybody sell these, eg Autobarn etc.

`Coopers' is made in UK (still?) and is white. Karcraft was selling these for $8.42, not sure of current pricing.

I got Cooper ones from Mekong Spares.
I said "how much each?" he said "$4.50". Then I said "what about for a dozen?" and he said "how much you want to pay me..."
I said "just give me price..."
At $3.80 I probably could have bargained harder... :?

moral- If buying from an asian, haggle like hell!! 8) :P
