Some info for you.
Some info on setting float levels for HS2/4 carbs.
There are 4 different float types
1/. Brass float from late 50s found on Minor 1000, Austin Lancer etc. These use a different float chamber lid to later carbs. Geometry is slightly different. IIRC Needle and seat extends further out than later types.
2/. Replacement plastic float for brass floats. These have a straight metal arm. (No dogleg)
3/. Later type plastic float with the metal dogleg arm. The original type float found on most OZ minis.
4/. All plastic float- supposedly not adjustable.
The setting for types 3 and 4 is 1/8" - 3/16" with the lid assembly held upside down and only the weight of the float on the spring loaded needle and seat. Use some drill bits 1/8" goes in 3/16" doesn't on a go/no go basis.
To adjust type 3 bend the arm.
To adjust the Non Adjustable all plastic float you use 0.010" thick aluminium spacer washers between the lid and the seat. There is even a BMC part no for these washers - AYB0377.
Can't remember the setting for the brass float.
Hope this helps
