OK .... here are some rough dimensions (and rough photos).... is all pretty easy except that that rack curves to follow the roof line - but if you're making your own then you could decide if worth the hassle or just go flat....

Major dimensions are here - should be able to work out the rest from these I hope.. ( :?: )
tube is about 18mm diameter

Viewed from the top everything is square - just camera angle makes look different...
(and on second measure rungs are more like 13 cm, 17cm, 17.5 cm,17.5 cm, 17cm, 13 cm )

Ps I picked this up off eBay off Brickworx relatively cheaply - but will have get re-coated.

That looks great Steve , I was planning on modifying the design to mount on the gutters rather than the roof surface itself so as per the PM I'm interested .

i'll probly be making up a few of these later on, i'd have the edges a bit more smoothed and rounded and the roof rack would sit a bit closer to the original roof line

I think having the rack roof mounted on rubber suckers with tie downs to the gutters would be a far better arrangement that gutter mounted.

I had a (big) roof rack made for the Land Cruiser years ago and I wanted the roof mounts to distribute the load and the guy making it talked me out of it in favour of gutter mounts. You guessed it - we lost two of the legs half way up the CREB track between Daintree and Cooktown

I'm trying to avoid the rubber feet option in order to avoid moisture getting caught under it and rusting the roof . Also the van has a fluted roof so depends how well the feet line up with the smooth sections of the roof , much easier to have it gutter mounted .

You will get movement in the gutter mounts that will grind away at the paint work a lot more with all the weight bearing there than any moisture attack under the rubber suckers if your paint is solid and sealed.

The result of my two legs breaking was rust in the double skin roof and door pillars as holes rubbed in the vertical part of the roof beside the gutters (as a result of driving another 3000 Km to get home before I did anything about it  ) Destroyed the car in the end otherwise I'd still be driving it 32 years on.

This pic was posted on another board I'm on and is basically the look I'm after , but with the smaller roof rack , though the big one for 4 tyres looks pretty good too ....

Now the real tricky bit is to be able to get hold of six "mud and snow" rally tyres.

I've already got 1 unused Bridgestone mud and ice tyre , it's got more open tread than most 4wd tyres .... Going to use it plus and old slick I have for the roof rack and 4 decent tyres on the van , I still want to be able to have some fun in it ...

My rack comes with gutter clamps and nylon strap to hold it on....

However was surfing last night and hit a wonderous site http://www.holden.co.uk (nothing to do with GMH but also with wonderous prices sadly ) mmmm those Lucas SFT 700..

Anyhow - no roof racks I've found but boot racks ...
http://www.holden.co.uk/viewProducts.asp?supergroup=Hardware&analysiscode=0664&groupname=Accessories&group=090

(getting there slowly...)
And they have authentic clamps and rubber boots :
