I go hard :D :D :D

really it all depends if you can control a car with that much power. Most of the benifit's of speed in a mini come through driver skill and technique. Power becomes really unimportant if you can drive a car well. Straight line speed isn't really fun otherwise everyone would think the drags were really great (*YAWN)  *expecting abuse*

Eat Anal Hair cush! cause I was talking about having anything other than the stock cam as hothead115 said he has just a stock 1275.

RE13 is not for everyone/every car. It's a serious fast road cam and it's not so sedate for everyday driving, although it's not a bad compromise. There are many others to choose from...

I think the stock 'S' cam is good for road. Doesn't run rough, but at the same doesn't make big HP, but it is a compromise.

How does a stock 'S' cam compare to an RE13

Stock S cam is tame as.... a Morris 1100. Same timing and lift.
<edit> The original Mk1 S, that is. Later they added a little more inlet duration, but it was still tame.
Best road cam BMC ever made, way back when- was the old 997 Cooper cam, timing 16/56-51/21.
It was so good, it's been copied by MiniSport and others.

RE13 cam is around 274 or 276° duration, it's seriously sporty. But I like my prototype RE282 in the 1360... :P

argh.
The great thing about SUs is that they only feed the engine with what it needs. That is that the carb piston will lift as the engine requires(allowing more fuel and more air) .
Ask Matt Read (The Mini Man) about this.
anyway I ran twin 1.75 inch SUs on my mild 1330 for years, no worries!
You will need a decent aftermarket cam to take full advantage of the carbs, headwork and exhaust, really they all should be properly matched, anyway.
Don't forget to get the distributor recurved to suit, about $175.00. All of people forget to get this done and are very disappointed when they do the carb, head, exhaust thing.
Go hard
