nicely explained..

i have a 2" exhaust on my mini, it has lcb's into a flexi into a flanged hotdog into a 3" cannon,

i just want to replace the cannon, it sounds unbelieveable on full song but its quite a bogany look at me i'm driving like a dick type of noise level..
:D

i know the rc-40's are good, but i was under the impression they only came in inch and 3/4 or so.

From what I understand, any system with a bore size larger than 1.75 inches is less effective - not enough back pressure.

not back pressure... exhaust pulse momentum/speed to low/penis to small

vizard sed... :)

They do, but now they are available with various size tailpipes, depending on what penis size you want to make up for.

Interesting point - my car used to be a straight through 1 3/4" system, sounded pretty nice. Then I put 2 1/4" piping from the back of the muffler to the exhaust tip, and it made it sound much nicer, but without losing gas velocity by enlarging the exhaust pipe size (except after the muffler, but I don't think that has a big effect).

Why are there so many misguided people who believe you NEED backpressure in an exhaust system?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Backpressure does but one thing. KILLS POWER!

That's not to say you should fit a 10" diameter exhaust or anything silly...

What you do need to do is run the right diamter pipe to REDUCE backpressure to a MINIMUM whilst having the QUICKEST "PORT" VELOCITY. If you get this right you will see many advantages like more power and better fuel economy... 8)

ok... I'll stop whinging now...

Backpressure can work with some engines.

The sort of engines that don't have exhaust valves. 8)

I`ve got a big one :-)

& i run a 2 inch exhaust system on my race mini (soon to be 2&1/2" turbo injected twin cam etc :-) that`s cheating tho hey?)

but the 1510cc road engine uses an 1"&3/4 pipe & it`s sweet & juicey & nice & wonderfull & sexy & ,,,oh,,, we`re talking about exhaust systems yeah? oops , wrong site :-)

2" systems are just simply toooo big for the average small bore, but a decent (like fast) big bore that`s been set up for upper end power will work ok(ish), not so much for a mild road engine tho.

length is a big factor too, you`ll find better power for road engines with a pipe that`s about a meter longer than the car, & race engines can do with a pipe length about 2feet shorter than the car,,, but those are only approximations made from only my experience over the short time i`ve been working on minis :-)
