I'm with Mike engine put together well and good paint before put in plus cleaned when the car is washed and cleaned ever time I service the car.

Daily driver, admittedly the 850 give you plenty of room to move.

The Austin has less room but when they get dirty you take the time to clean them, before

And after

Another daily driver.

This is what mine looks like after a bit of a spruce up to get rid of 40 years of grime. Probably won't stay this way being a daily runabout.

Bit of an off topic question here but- 64cooper, what sort of rubber seal are you using around your radiator and where did you get it from?
When I put my engine back in I want to use something but was wondering what would be best. Was going to check 'clark rubber' but haven't as yet, and spotted yours..

That's nice. To obtain a clean engine bay and drive then car you must clean it, and drive it. Haha, I clean mine at least once a month so the next show or whatever it won't be a big job.

clean engine bays can get rooted, they're for show cars.. all my minis are for driving rain or shine!

Hot enginebay Hanra. Those engines on the cars that are used regularly just show dedication.

It doesn't take much to keep it clean once it is there.

Once you have cleaned the engine bay and repainted all the old crappy enine bits there's not much to maintain.

The remnants of the bucket of suds can be used to give a quick once-over when you wash the car. The rest is up to you.
