not happy with V-Power, seems like it goes off very quickly - I've had the best results from Ultimate for the last 3 years or so since they started selling it in Wodonga

used 98, no worries, 95 no worries, 92 no worries.
couldnt tell any difference, minis dont have computers to adjust the timing depending on the fuel its using, also minis have low compression so i dont see why you cant use 92..
i have unleaded seats so no probs there.

i like BP ultimate for 98

i can't really tell the diff between ultimate and vpower (i was going to call it optimax...), except in ballarat there is a substantial price difference between the two. although, in a mini it makes a maximum difference of about $2.50 so who gives a brown sticky log.

i use shell purely for convenience, and they know me there now, but i did like mobil's 8000...

I tried BP 98 when my vaccum hoses (to ecu) where broken and everything turned to crap, so i've stayed on the 95 since (even though the pipes where fixed).

But today I filled up again with BP 98 and its great! Might be in my head but it feels smoother and more eager. So i'm converted :D .

My favourite would have to be Vortex 98 then BP Ultimate. All personal preference really, there's not a lot of difference between fuels really biggest difference in consumption and power is in the right foot of the driver.

When I switched to unleaded I used Optimax for years and they ran great but I had to clean the plugs every 2-3months. I assumed it was just because it was unleaded that it fouled the plugs. Then Graham Russell told me that when they run race engines on his dyno using Optimax they won't go for more than 10 minutes without fouling the plugs, he recommended BP or Mobil 98. I put 2 and 2 together and switched my road cars to Ultimate and no longer have fouled plugs. I think Optimax is fine for new cars with computers but I have spoken to many other old car guys who had fouled plugs using Optimax. It was 4 years ago so it could be that Shell have cured this by now. Anyone use Optimax and not have plug problems?

Pete

V Power/Optimax does require you to perform an Italian tune-up every now and then. If you drive like Miss Daisy it does foul the plugs.

I only run 98 so can't comment on 95 or *gasp* 91.

I run Mobil 8000 it's the best as doc says. I find Ultimate is good but it evaporates/goes off after sitting for a week or so (no longer 98 after a week, more like 95?).

Shell is the worste, I ran it in Lillee and she was not happy. Toby our 2006 Corolla van loves Shell Vpower though...

reminds me of the WRC Lancia team in the days of the stratos. They used to "idle" at about 7000rpm for about 30 sec before switching off - I assume an Italian tune-up is along those lines?

Italian tune-up is redlining in every gear until the plugs clear.

Nah.. Italian cars are designed to take this abuse, as every Fiat 500 driver knows.
I tried to kill my 124 sport for 20+ years, and couldn't.
