My apologies Mike, I should have mentioned that Dmastic doesnt go hard, for a few yaers anyway.

The only problem with Urethanes like Sikaflex is trying to get the crap off later on. If you consider that it's what holds windscreens in these days, it's definitely tough enough. One other thing with Sikaflex, its not UV resistant, and will break down after a while if it's in the sun.

Youre alright mate, I've used it first months ago anyway.

Whats "after a while", a few weeks or few years?

Is there anything else to use to repair that gap?

Cheers.

By all means, Sikaflex is a great sealant. I couldnt tell ya how long it will last though(should be a couple years).

It was just part of the training we received. Whenever we used it, we primed the glass first. With the black strip around the windscreen, and the primer, it keeps the sun off the urethane.

If you really want to know how strong the stuff is, try kicking out a windscreen from something like a VN commodore, or EA falcon. Guaranteed if it was done properly, you'll end up kicking the glass out without even budging the sealant.

Or get my head kicked in by the owner and his mates. If sikaflex can then glue it all back together than its trully fully sicka.

I did it tonight, its just a small patch where the bottom rubber on the qurter vent folded up from the frame - Will wait and see how it holds.

Cheers.

Used the Butyl Mastic on the window last week and it looks like its worked pretty well. I just wanna confirm that its neutral-cure as opposed to acid-cure?

One of my mates had to take a perfectly straight EH sedan shell to the tip because all the seams had rusted out a few years after using an acid-cure type silicone.

Butyl mastic doesn't really cure- no chemical reaction, it just dries out slowly and gets harder. A bit like builders window putty..

excellent smithers....

Hey Kev, regarding Revolution Race Gear and the isolator keys... do they have a website/email address? I googled but couldn't come up with anything. If you've got a phone number handy that would be gold.
