Hahahahahaha!!!!

Just seems like a crap load of work for a run of the mill car, but also there is always a chance of taking paint off on the edges when using a buff... U really need to know wat ur doing.

But the thing is mass produced paint jobs are crap on cars these days, they are so full of orange peel, but i guess thats exactly wat he is trying to get rid of. But you gotta wonder how much paint is left, sure he gives paint thickness's, but wats that really mean in the real world....?

Sure is, I had a "professional" detailer (you may seen pics of his ford on this site, he is not a mini person) do exactly this on the bootlid numberplate light (they are painted on some rovers on the mini. Took the paint right off, apologised, and gave me a small discount on the job. :?

i'm so glad that the first replies on that forum were "it's just an astra"

the ony purpose i see for that much effort would be if that was a prototype model or the showcase model from the dealer taking it to a motor show...

not for every day driving...

utter waste of time...

ESPECIALLY in the UK...

Wats the clay do exactly?

It takes off contaminates like bugs, over spray etc etc and you use a quick detailer spray to lubricate the paint surface, I use it on our car now and again as we live in the country and drive about 600kms a week so we get lots of squished bugs everywhere.

Have a look at this site for the posts by 'Driven by Shine' he's a professional detailer on the Gold Coast and shows before and after pics where you can see the differences really well.

So really getting back to the Astra, being a brand spanking new car that hadnt been driven any where, there was really no need for Claying the new paint?

Hahahahahahaha!!!!! That could be a real money spinner, he could collect the sh*t and re-sell it to his astra buddies.
