the problem with mine that means I can't put dampers in the normal place is that the bed goes right out to the wheel - there isn't any room to put it in vertically...

Thought you might like to see this example of a trailer using a narrowed dry Mini rear subframe. It works a treat for the job it was designed for, but is almost impossible to reverse.

haha - I had to look carefully because at first glance I saw the light bracket and thought to myself "what a clever tyre scraper.
