I got mine done a couple of months ago for $195 fitted but that didn't include the seal. This was a new laminated, tinted windscreen

I was told that with the older cars its much cheaper to source the new seal yourself.

Shame you're so far away geoff , I've got several used ones downstairs . If anything rear screens should be cheaper as they are rarely broken compared to the front ones .

Sorry about taking a while to reply,

I got my windscreen seal and locking strip from A Grade Classic Parts and the windscreen came from Novus Windscreens

I know there have been some cheaper prices on here but the $195 is a fully laminated and part tinted windscreen all fitted and sealed.

Novus do't seem to have a public office, they are all mobile units. Just call them, make a booking and they come to you with a windscreen and fit it.

Hope this helps

What happens if your insurance covers (up to) one freebie per year but it's not technically "broken" just stone chipped / scratched to buggery. :?:
Do Novus bill the insurance company direct ?
If not and you pay then send in the receipt they have to take your word for it

I think Shannon's required the damage to be irrepairable. ie deep chip or scratch or cracked.

Mine was pretty well cracked in half!!

Each insurer will have a company that will bill them directly (shannon's was o'briens) so all you have to do is get the screen replaced by the window place and they sort out chasing the ins company.

You don't have to pay or make a claim. :D

Nothing is free, not even windscreens.

How much extra do they charge to give you a free windscreen? Or to put it another way, How much cheaper could the insurance be without the "free" windscreen?

Yeah, they probably charge you more in there somewhere, but it is just standard cover for shannons comprehensive insurance.

For the amount of $$ ins companies make, they should be able to afford a few windscreen replacements every year.
