Usually whenever an event is held at the Phillip Island GP circuit there is a ban on starting and running competition car engines until 9am. That also includes road registered cars once their owner has checked in at Race Control. That means that all entrants must push their cars through the pits, into the scrutineering bay and out again.
Mini drivers have it easy and are the envy of the paddock, but you'll need a big team to push your Falcodore, especially if it has a locked diff.

I was in a mate's HZ Kingswood flat towing a new donor engine less kingswood he'd picked cheap through Kogarah. We only had some metal chain with us at the time (looked strong enough, right  )....

I'm towing him across the lights at Princess Hwy in front of St Georges Leagues Club (nice quiet intersection  ), when the light go amber and his clutch starts to let off some smoke. I gun it in order to make it across the lights and the chain snaps, leaving my mate in the donor stranded in the middle of Princess Hwy in the middle of the afternoon. I parked the car and bolted back, and we both pushed it up hill across 3 lanes of sound bound traffic. We got some rope that provided the necessary "give" to tow it the rest of the way home after that.

I used to forget to turn off the headlights on in my old mini and the battery was fairly shagged as it was, so I always had to be sure to park on a slope so that I could clutch start her. Until the battery finally died a merciful death I would clutch start her backwards down the 15m or so of front lawn every morning to get her started.

The fuel gauge was just there for good looks too... My best effort of pushing was at eight and a half months pregnant and 'only just around the corner' from the fuel station when I ran out of petrol one morning. Forgot about that slight hill on the way and the three or four corners in between! I think I managed to get about 500m up the road before I decided it wasn't such a good idea to keep pushing or I would end up with a different sort of pushing!! Some poor sod took pity on me and gave me a lift to the petrol station in the end
