Do all you can, by all means, but professional theives (the ones who don't get caught) know what they're doing, and just lift the car and trailer. This of course takes time and is very visible.

there's probably a mini mechanic going around nicking the ones he needs for parts
because he either can't source them or can't be bothered sourcing them and paying for them

well demonic that was my theroy as well cause it is abit odd but as well ive heard someone or somebodys are exporting them overseas as well which is a worry, doesnt matter what u do a theif will attempt to take ur car, the best way i reckon is if u are at home park it in a garage or behind another car so it cant be rolled out without moving the car infront, if u go out park the car in a spot where it will be visible to the public and near the main door of were u are going, its upseting to hear a members pride go missing juz means u need to be more careful and when ever possible fit a alarm and immob for to reasons

1 immob will stop and thief from driving off in the car unless he wants to play with it for a good 2 hrs trying to rewire

2 because an alarm is sensitive the slightest bump or movement in the car triggers them off and then u have a pack of people look and going WTF??, it is the best protection u have

simple soulution that may or may not work let me know what you think. get a big sign and write on it I AM BEING STOLEN CALL 000. leave this sign on the roof of your car obviously if nobody is touching ur car then no one will call but it would attract attention :P

taking the post back a bit, i was working on my mini one nite and i had a light hooked up to the solenoid and earthed on the engine, now im no auto-electrician so shoot me if i said something wrong, but the connection on the solenoid feel down and shorted "something" and suddenly my car was kicking ova, i had an immoboliser so it didnt start but it still scared the beejebus out of me as my arm was actually trying to disconnect the bottom radiator hose. This goes to show just how easy it is, if a kid that doesnt no diddly squat about electrics can short his ignition and get the car kicking ova

Too all those people that have lost there cars, u have my condolences i couldnt imagine how crap it must be

Yep...you probably got the terminal block that feeds the starter solenoid...its a good idea to disconnect the battery when working on the wiring

What about a wheel clamp? Good visual deterent and prevents the car being rolled away. Never tried them but at about $200 for something decent, worth a look perhaps?

Just my 2cents worth.

immobilisers work great on fuel injected cars ( and to a lesser extent coopers because of the electric fuel pump) but with two things you would have in your tool box (and I have in my pocket most of the day at work) your engine can be started in about 5 seconds. I won't post how to do it but 95% of people here would already know

Why dont people just pull the ROTOR BUTTON out of there dizzy when they leave the car parked?

The only way to steal it is to push it, tow it, or happen to have a Mini Rotor Button in there pocket at the time of theft.....

'Cause there's a fat oil cooler in the way.

Immobiliser is great, stops fuel, starter and ignition. To go around these things the car would need rewiring, which could be done, but ain't no gone in 60 seconds.
