Yes there is - you make sure the alarm has a timer in it - if it hasn't been attended to after a reasonable few minutes then it automatically switches off. I like Morris 1100's idea of tossing rocks at cars with alarms that have been going off for an hour or more.

You could take it to a mechanic to get it fixed.
FFS the alarm goes off for 15 seconds and turns itself off. If it continues to do that for four hours you would deserve a slap. How would you like someone sitting outside your bedroom window blowing the horn for 4 hours? You would go out and thump the bloke. So why is it OK to set up a car alarm to do the same thing?

Mike, Yes I remember. 8)

Real alarms reset after a while. Toy ones don't.
I think alarms are overvalued, give me a few physical and electrical immobilizers any day.

Hey Tiny,
Remember at the dyno day, imo the best sounding car just had an RC40 type exhaust, thats what I am going to put on mine when i get the motor done...

The best sounding mini EXHAUST in my opinion is the one of the round nosed mini being driven by the woman weaving through the traffic in the film (filum for tiny) Italian Job 11.

It fair set my heart racing

Mate, its an exhurst. It is never going to look good. 8)
You can chrome it or paint it but it will always look like a bit of pipe hanging under the back of a car.

Sheilas can look good
Exhursts can only look like bits of pipe. 8)

The only people who are going to appreciate the subtlety of what you just wrote is those who are lying under your car after you have run them down
