Those temporary carports from supercheap are a good start, good as a way of sheltering the cars while the bigger shed gets built! The best way to use them is to only use half of each upright, that way it shelters the cars from the sides to a reasonable degree! I have two vans under one at home right now.... Mini Vans that is!

Cheers

Matt

A few slight corrections on techinical bits.

The Moke Californian never came out with 1098cc engine.

Original Californian or Export Moke was 1971 to 1973, made to meet US emission laws as they had been ordered by a client in Virgin Islands (owned by US), but the order fell through and they never got there. Export Moke had the Austin America (1300) 1275cc engine, with drum brakes and loads of minor body changes - fuel tank in back, etc.

Second generation Californian was released in Sept 1977 - changes from standard Moke were all cosmetic originally. Denim-look roof and seats, white bull bars front and back, Sunrasia spoked wheels, Californian stickers on side of bonnet.

In November 1979 all Mokes were upgraded with side-fill 38lt fuel tanks, new seats and loads of other improvements. Californian got a roll bar - actually a seatbelt anchorage point for inertia-reel seatbelts.

Early 1980 (not sure what month) the 1275 version with disc brakes was available as an option.

This brings up the 2 quality levels as mentioned in the chassis number prefix. The two levels are Standard and Californian. The 1275/disc brake version was simply and option (and very popular).

We've got all the info you would like on the history of the Moke in Issue 6 of The Mini Experience - still available.

Issue 12, due out mid-September, will also have everything you always wnated to know about the Mokes in the Australian army - over 400 of them.

Cheers,
Watto.
