HAHAHA.....funny.

I did, on the weekend have to pull down all the walls under my house to make it so as I can get my brick out from under there to take it to a workshop....

Still has the last rego sticker on the 1/4 glass....6/1989.....

It is just like the Cooper S's that most people remember. No right hand tank, no heater, no 7½' brakes. 8)

Yeah I get the whole "I had a Cooper S back then... Mine could do 140mph...tripple SUs (but that was a bout a 998 mini a guy used to have...hmm dodgy  )...."

I once got a bloke telling me my car is genuine Cooper S, cos it's got 1275, discs, twin tanks, wind up windows etc (no hydro tho 8) ). Haha, yeah it looks, goes, and sounds like an S, but that's an 850.

Just live with, Mini is an icon. Everyone lvoes the mini (except the occassional stupid person :P )

People have fond memories of their time with Mini's but their sense of what happen, what the wish happened and what they heard had happened crosses over (Just ask my grandma about the battle of Britain and get crossed info and stories like crazy! ) and becasue of that everyman and his dog had an S. One of my uncles (he's an old uncle!) bought an S second hand in the late 60s. He has pictures.

I am one of those people who have a story of when I use to own a Cooper S.
In my case - I was 17 and had a mini as my first car. The old guy next door came over one day and nearly had a heart attack when I was cutting a hole in the bonnet to put on a bonnet scoop. He was not happy I was cutting a hole in the bonnet of my cooper.
My reply was - "is this car special or something? I only paid $1000.00 for it?".
He tried to explain that the Cooper S model was the top of the line and should not be butchered - I remember his words as "best left as it is".
Being young and dumb i ignored his advice and made many changes and drove the car into the ground and eventually the car was written off in a car accident about 4 months later.
Being only third party - and the accident my fault - I got nothing for it except money from the scrape metal dealers. At that time it was "no big loss. I only paid $1000 for the car".

Now I have a Cooper S wannabe and can probably never afford an original Cooper S ever again.

I always maintain that there is actually only one Cooper S, it's just that everybody has owned it at one stage.

I talked to a bloke once who reckoned his old Cooper S had triple webers.... that would be two on the crossflow head and a spare in the boot?

What's with the whole tripple carby thing? I've heard it said to my a few times, and now that I hear that some other people have got the same, I'm wondering in the Cooper S is being confused with an XU1 or a Jag Etype (more likely the XU1).

It's a 4 cylinder, with a 5 port head, 2 in, 3 out. Not the other way round.

Lol....

I heard of a boat engine that was redered unservicable. The note on the repair sheet said "it sounds like the clappers of hell". The repair sheet file by the mechanic said "Clappers removed, engine servicable."

ALSO I MANAGED TO FIND A GENUINE NEW STAINLESS GRILLE

I got a stainless one on my car too. My survived a fire in a mini specialist, I got it cheap, but it never polished up to perfection again...

Grille came form the same S my motor came from which was destroyed in the fire....

That eBay add, is very interesting, I have no idea what to think, it's a beautiful car but no S. He won't get 30 grand, but it's worth $15 grand IMO.
