Location: hoxton park, sydney a place where our council bins are so small you couldn't bath a baby in them!!
besides making a lubricant for milling, and burning it is another way of getting rid of it
i bottle it ,stick it around the side of my house and get rid of it on the next visit to the tip

i remember many years ago when i was reading electricty meters i went around the back of this chinese mechanic garage to read the electricity meters and this apprentice was at the sink with the hot water flowing quickly with steam everywhere while pouring bottle upon bottle of black oil down the sink , i contacted the NSW EPA , i found out later they were fined quite a bit and the garage closed down a littlw while later

Appart from letting it leak onto the carport floor.....

I've always put it back in the container it came from, or another and jsut shove it somewhere in the garage or beside the garage. Might come in handy someday, for something....

I pour all the old engine oil into a 220 litre drum and contact an oil recycler when full and they come and pump it out. saves me the hassle of taking it to the local tip where they will only take it in the 5 litre container and only 4 of them at a time.

I buy my oil in 20l containers, when I empty one, I keep it and put all my oil oil/brake fluid/general yukky gunk in it - I then take it to the tip where they have a collection depot.

please get rid of your oil responsibly - I can't believe some of these responses.... dumping it in the ground, putting it in the rubbish, or leaving it behind a servo or whatever where it will end up in the rubbish, or burning it!!

the argument the anti-car lobby have about old cars wrecking the environment isn't just about emissions, it's about irresponsible owners not considering their actions - like these examples

you people should be ashamed of yourselves

and yes Ryan, what they're doing is illegal

ps: Before I learnt about the collection point at the tip, I used to store it in the old bottles and wonder what to do with it - then I fould out about the collection point - I had a heap of stuff to take to the tip, so put the oil bottles at the bottom of my trailer, and got rid of it all in one go - 75 litres worth. They wouldn't have been happy if they'd found me doing it, but at least it was done responsibly

I have ten 5 litre containers in the trailer now, ready for taking to the council tip for safe disposal.

You are only supposed to dump 15 litres max per tip visit, so I've hidden most of the bottles under old carpet.

I store it and when I have at least 3 bottles I take it to the local oil disposal place.

i usually find the nearest water catchment area and pour it straight in.. its the most cheapest and user friendly way to dispose of the waste.

Hehe I usually take about 12 x 5Ls... and say at entry I have `a few' to drop off.

I've got four 20 litre drums. When they're all full I do a run to the local tip and empty them into the oil waste tank.

Other - Paint my newly built timber retaining walls in it. Prevents rot and keeps the termites out. Also, great weed killer.

I stealthily leave a bit on the road every time i hit a bump! or in carpark spots, or on the cardboard on the floor of the garage.

Hopefully for not too much longer though.
