They will be no different to a safety harness when it comes down to it. If it is frayed, damaged, faded or otherwise it should not be used. If you tamper with these you should be qualified to do so. Belts are a grey area not covered by OH&S like restraints are in industry. In industry they will have inspection dates and they will need to be inspected by certified people with the proper qualifications. There's nobody who seems to do this or any mechanism to do so in the state RTAs. They are happy to see them in there, they don't seem to be able to inspect the webbing quality other than by a cursory glance.

There are people to do this in our hobby, but it is not cheap as they are few and far between.

Same in QLD - permit required for any unregistered car to be on the road period - and the car has to be roadworthy as well.

the only reason why i took mine apart was that i could see that the coil had make unstuck on one side so it didnt retract. i bought new one any ways and used the webbing out of it, most usefull stuff ever.

Mention you're from ausmini when you call/email - [email protected] and belts will cost:

Lap only - $40.00
Static lap/sash - $62.00
Inertia retractable - $70.00

Price is for black... other colours an extra $25.00 per belt. A fair few colours available.

We also have ADR compliant seatbelt plates, and child anchor plates, as well as barrel bolts.

Contact me for more info if needed.

Actually, that is rather cheap, last fellow I contacted wanted $450 !

Does that use the buckles we provide, or new ones?

Certainly includes buckles.
You should see the range we have

Web buckles for the rear, stalks for the front... available in lots of different lengths but typically the rear has "610mm adjustable web" and the front can use a 300mm stalk buckle.

These are Ausmini special prices.

In addition, we can supply retractable seatbelts for the rear.
A plate MUST be installed underneath the parcel shelf for strength.
Parcel shelf belts come with covers, and don't look too far out of place in a classic car.

Can you use the old buckles if you guys are happy to certify them?
Just for the restorations point of view.

This sounds cool willy, I reckon I might pop-in sometime and see what you guys have.

I'd be interested in red retractables for the front (I have a set of retractable belts for the front which I got given, they are the type that blt right next to you, not in the rear bucket) unfortunately they are dead, they looked perfect as I unwould them, but at the very end of the belt, it had a short tear, which was "fixed" with wool.....DODGY!

Anyways, it sounds affordable as my belts are original, and are starting to rub, etc. Although Regency thought they were fine. But yeah, I'd feel safer with new (and red 8) ) ones.

Slinkey, the colours aren't usually in stock, and they do cost 25 bucks extra. Allow two weeks for those to arrive.

With coloured belts, the buckles are still black.

Will and I sell about $12,000 worth of belts every month, we know the game!

<edit> spelling

You guys should put "Seat belt Subject Matter Experts (SME)" in you sig blocks.
It's a burning question in the back of a few minds, and by the way the old worn out and sun faded belts are selling on Ebay, I reckon you could do a bit of a trade.
