Hi GT,
The original boot lid liner on Australian MKII S and Clubman GT was a material called Leather Board and was I/8" thick masonite with a leather grain patern in it on one side.
This material is no longer available but can be sourced from old wardrobe doors which where made in the late 60s and early 70s. If you really want it to be spot on original you will have to find one of these wardrobes for about $25 and cut it up. I know it is a lot of effort but that is what I did because I wanted it right.
Hope this helps,
Dave

I love learning new and interesting things like that! Thanks for sharing the info.

My daily driven GT has it's original boot lid liner, albeit a little worse for wear. I can match the grain pattern from it when I raid the wardrobes discarded for the council kerb cleanup

Great tip!

Is it the inside of the door that has the pattern on it?

GT,
The pattern is on the outside to give the wardrobe a textured finish to look at.
quite often the inside of the doors is made from it too and you will get a piece that is not painted which is even better, Sometimes the back is leather board too.
