Kev, intersted in why you thought the RC40 wouldn't be big enough. Somewhere in one of his books DV reckoned that the 40 didn't restrict power on a tuned MGB.

I just took my boxes to the mufler man and asked him to plumb it. Took less than an hour to bend pipe, weld it up, attach hangers and hang it all neatly in place. Without the car I don't see how they could optimise the fit - and in a Mini every mm counts.

Cheers, Ian

Ian, the RC40 I had was 10 years old and looking rusty at the ends.
Chong had just dynoed his similar spec motor at 120HP (engine dyno) and GR found a 2" system was worth 4 or 5 HP over an RC40 and 1-3/4" pipes.
So I bought a similar system, on Graham's recommendation. It just slips over my Maniflow LCB.
Bear in mind my 1360 is also running bigger valves, bigger cam, and bigger chokes than Chong's.
At the ausmini dyno day not long after, I got 86.6HP ATW. This exact same motor previously (same dyno) but with RE13 cam and RC40, had got 75.4HP. So I gained 11.2 HP. It wasn't all in the cam...

re the fitting of my 2" system I'm a fitter/machinist/welder by trade. Fit an exhaust system? No problemo...
