Once upon a time racing stripes were there to differentiate cars from each other... now everyone's got them and they all look the same

Simon, the Rover Coopers had them too, ex factory.... you could get them with The Man's autograph.

pfft, that was a marketing gimmick - cashing in on what people had been copying for 30 years anyway - it's not like Rover would have done it if stripes weren't already popular... :P

Mine are 5 inch wide I think, from the edge opf the bonnet.

Mine are rather wide compared to most peoples.
Does it go faster when they're wider? I might need to paint me some on.

I'm not sure, but it definitely goes fast with the 'supercharged' badge on the back that's for sure!

Barney is pretty fast with BRG paint & the stripes, but my crappy looking 1360 is way faster, as it's JET Red. All over.

 :P If you have one stripe that goes all the way over your car you'll find it makes your car 5% faster (depending on colour, red is fastest of course, then black, white, etc) but if you have 2 stripes you can get up to 10% increase depending on position and thickness of the stripes, also if its a sticker or its painted on(painted is generally smoother but weighs more than a sticker/decal) Then you have to compensate for the extra weight you've added, as well as drag so you might end up losing 2-3% of the speed increase. Position is also a major factor as if it or they are off centre your increasing the weight on one side of the car, therfore disturbing the balance and increasing the drag on one side of the car but also making one side of the car able to go faster than the other. :P

You can do them any width you want, i've got the pattern here to vinyl cut them. I put them on Honks once. Easy enough to take off if you dont want them on anymore. Also got the john cooper signature
