The only issue I have is with the electronic clutch on the Blower. This just goes against how superchargers work, but heh, its all make believe anyway isnt it? :D

the supercharger creates a restriction in the intake if its not moving.
I was under the impression that with a "roots" type blower you dont get anything through unless its moving. I may be wrong of course (I often am). Anyway in the footage where Max doesn't have it turned on, there is no way his car would be as powerful as we were led to believe.

The rootes type 'charger WILL allow air through it when not being turned by the pulley (broken belt or switched off clutch). The vacuum is powerful enough to drawn air through the 'charger which is probably using energy, but anyways, it does work.

Once I took off from a set of lights and shifted into second and put my foot down, the car took off like a rocket (as you'd expect) and then suddenly the circuit breaker which is connected to the electric clutch blew. Suddenly no power but car still ran fine, revved fine. Sounded quieter too! But no big power rush when you put your foot down.

I've switch the electric clutch to a 30amp circuit breaker and haven't had any more issues, but dam that's a lot of current! I'm going to have to put in a relay too, these clutchs must get dodgy in old age. :?

Also another thing I should mention is the petrol cleans the supercharger out nicely, mine is beautiful inside, whether or not that's a good thing I have no idea. :?

That cool, I thought the same until I drove it 20kms home without boost, which I must say was crap. It felt like it had less power than pre-charger running N/A. Also it wasn't very revvy, it would rev but got angry above above about 4500rpm and that's when I'd shift. And normally that's just where the fun begins! Very odd to drive indeed.

That whole blower setup in Mad Max was fake, it was debunked years ago. Car was a stage prop, not a real performance beast.

they need to run off a relay.

One of the very first cars to run a supercharger were the Mercedes racers of the 1920s.
They had the blower set up to engage at full throttle only. When you drove normally you didn't run the blower but when you needed more power you pushed the foot flat and the blower kicked in.

The Mad Max system was a fake but could easily be made to work. Imagine a GM blower manifold with a pair of Webers hanging on the side of the manifold.
Normal driving on the Webers and engage the blower for full power, you have a gate valve under the Webers to stop the air from flowing backwards through the Webers when the blower is running.
Easy peasy. 8)

I think I read some where, the blower in the Mad Max car was driven by a second water pump that had a pulley on it to turn the rotors.
