Now I think about it, I did have an S type engine that was given to me, I used it as part payment for engine work by Link in Melbourne, they said it was a thick flange block and Clubman GT possibly, I remember that it had the MOWOG with Australia outline on the rocker cover, so maybe John's story has it's merit.
regards Gavin

Slight hijack but what sticker is/was on the rocker cover with the long breather hump along the back?

According to Larry at Mini Spares the MOWOG embossed rocker cover was fitted to the Clubman GT only. It replaced the plain imported one on the Cooper S type motor, apparently as a way of satisfying the Oz Government's requirements for local content in the automotive industry.
Larry believes that all MK II S's were fitted with plain rocker covers when they left the factory.
Another myth busted.

David, I have a rocker cover that came off a clubman 1100, with the long breather hump, it is still in the original blue paint, and what I believe is the original sticker - a "Hot Run Tested" sticker with the Leyland logo

Thanks - so the "hot run tested - with a BMC logo will "be in context"
