not yet, but i was also wondering, do you have to be a member of a car club to get your CAMS licence or can you get your CAMS licence before and then get your car club memebership

I hope you don't mind me also hijacking this thread :S
Can someone please post a brief overview of what is allowed in each class for hill climbs, I am getting very confused reading the cams manual...
So far I know;
Historic - No non period mods or accessories, basically it is as it was sorta thing

Improved production - minor mods?? not sure on this one

Sports sedan - anything goes pretty much?? also not quite sure

Yes, club membership first - CAMS licences are available through the club. A good place to start would be the Gippsland Car Club http://www.gippslandcarclub.com.au/ (especially as you intend to participate in Hillclimbs), which is based in the Morwell area and has its own track.
or the Victorian Mini Club Inc. http://www.mini.org.au/ which conduct or participate in numerous sprints and hillclimb events.

you do need to be a member of a car club for a cams licence to be issued i do believe,

your basically right with the classes there.. sports sedans is what i run.. and basically if you can think it you can do it

improved production is similar only it limits cars to certain dimensions and parts to the original specs ie. wheels can only be a certain amount bigger then the standard original equipment. the cams manual online can help on these subjects as it offers a much more in depth guide over the book
