How's that relevant? Who's under the car while its being jacked up?

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

On the front I use the tie rod mounts and put the stands on the flat spot under the suspension arms.
The rear I put a piece of wood across the rear cross member of the subframe and jack in the middle then put stands in the middle of the sides of the subframe. The wood is to spread the weight so the rear cross member doesn't buckle in the middle
I'm going to weld in this 2X2 box section steel in when I rebuild the rear subby so I won't need to use the piece of wood anymore :D

Know nothing about Minis. First time I jacked up my 65 deluxe (april this year) I had a trolley jack under the gearbox. Got it almost high enough to put some stands underneath and the engine mounts gave way. Live & learn I guess.

I had mine on the front subframe (where the subframe joins the front of the car (near the apron)

Its the only place I could get the stands. Had it on stands for about 6months or so, had no problems at all.

I tried to Jack mine up with the sump, but couldnt get the jack under it :(
I have used the tie rod ends, and a bunch of other locations...

The 'by the book' method has a particular spot, but I have never used it.

Peter.

If I use the standard hydraulic jack under the tie rod end, it lifts the car just high enough to get the axle stands under the subframe below where the driveshafts pass through. Always sturdy and leaves lots of room to work around the car.
