Are you running a vacuum advance distributer , is the vacuum line hooked up and has the advance mechanism inside the dizzy fallen apart and over advancing under load ?

I will check that - is the advance mechanical as well as vacuum - ie does it have a weights mechanism as well as the vacuum ?

the advance both mechanical and vacuum is fine. Howver I did find that the -ve battery lead was very frayed. Whilst the potential differnce between the battery terminals was 12v the difference between the +ve and the body monting for the -ve strap was on 9.5v. Thats not going to help is it.

So I will throw on a new battery lead and see how we go. Hopefully its that simple.

I also adjusted the throwout nut on the clutch and it feels better but I cant tell until I have it running again.

So I will juice up the battery again and see how we go

Thanks

It's your moke's way of teaching you a lesson for voting for your millionaire mate Malcolm Turnbull. :P

I had this exact same problem it stalls as soon as you press the accelerator pedal to move off but fine on neutral.....

but

that was on my datto weber carby having a bad/worn out accelerator pump diaphragm

so it was air/fuel related on mine.

readjusted the clutch - so I can slip it a little (which I prefer) - better

pulled the carbie apart - stuck float  put it all back together - topped up the damper and away we go

Thanks everybody - as you said electrics and fuel/air
