Minis changed to tapered bushes in 66 I think so it should be late type.

Supposedly they did, though I know someone who just pulled the lower control arms out of his 68/69 model and found it had the early type arms. You never know with cars this age (I'm waiting to see a Mini with one type each side for a bit of variety).

later type. I put rubber bushes in when i redid the fron suspension - I have pu poly on all my others with good results. However i will defer to the Docs greater mini knowledge and go rubber again.

This the side where the wheel came off - so it could just be another consequence of that incident.

I have get the jag sold first - so the Moke will have to wait.

Why would they tear up in such a short time ?

probably inferior quality repro's. Also, i believe the experts suggest the LCA pin nut at the rear of the subframe tower is tightened (fully) when the car is at its natural ride height (ie under load), not in the raised position.

Also, I've used rubber grease on my last job (moke incidently-had to adjust the wheel bearings, so did the ball joints, rubbers, the lot -you know the drill). Hopefully they will last longer, but we will see.............

The metal insert type LCA rubbers appear to be pretty good repros, it's the top hat style ones that are 'average' - look about the same as steady bar rubbers in quality.
